What I Liked
On a scale of 1-5 for the book "Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children" I would give it a 4.What I liked about the book was that it wasn't your stereotypical kind of book. It was full of different twists, turns, and one massive plot twist. The moment I found out Dr.Golan was the wight, was the moment I couldn't keep my eyes off the book. I found it incredibly captivating. I love the fact that the author put in pictures so you could visualize what he was talking about. I also appreciated the fact that the book was between the past and modern times. I feel like that gave the book a bit more versatility.
What I Didn't Like
What I didn't like about the book was that Jacob's parents weren't involved with him. When he was leaving for the island, he over heard his mother talking to her friend about being relieved him and his father were leaving. While Jacob was on the island, his father allowed him to go looking for a mysterious house, as long as he was with someone who seemed trustworthy. His parents didn't really pay any attention to what he was doing. They just kind of let him do whatever, and took his word for it. Jacob's father also drank a lot. Whenever

This led to his father allowing him to go off and travel with Emma and the other peculiar children without a second thought. I feel like if his parents were more involved with what was going on, it would have made the plot more interesting.
Another thing I didn't like was that Jacob was rich. This allowed him to travel where he wanted. If he didn't have the money, then maybe he wouldn't have been able to ever solve his grandfather's last words. I also didn't like the fact that Jacob wasn't attached to his life in America. He had one friend, tried to get fired from his job multiple times, and hated his family. All of these things led to Jacob being okay with leaving forever. He had no good reason to stay. He didn't feel like he belonged, but with the peculiar children, he did.

Even though this book wasn't what I had expected it to be, I would definitely recommend it to my friends. I feel like they would enjoy it because it's not your average book. Most books now days are about people in controlled societies who begin revolutions. This book was about a boy who discovered he wasn't the normal child. I wouldn't recommend it to an adult because it seems like it was written for the young adult genre. But, if I could, I would suggest this book to teens my age who don't read as much as I do.Overall, it was a pretty good book. It contained an amazing plot twist and a captivating story line, it was definitely a book I would enjoy reading again.
