Insurgent
Almost everybody is talking about the movie Insurgent. It was based off of the Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth. I am a fan of the trilogy myself, so when I found out the movies were coming out, I couldn't contain my excitement. My friends and I had made plans to watch Divergent and thought the movie was okay. Even though it was similar to the book, some parts bothered us. In the end we thought it was fine and were hoping the second would be better.
On the day Insurgent came out, my friends made plans again for us to watch it. We had seen the trailer and thought it was nothing like the book, but we decided to give it a chance. We sat in the theater ready to see the movie. We thought it was pretty good at the start. It was somewhat following the (Image Credit Here) story line but all of a sudden the camera switched to Abnegation. Eric was in Tris' house and was talking about some box he finally found. My friend and I looked at each other. A box? We tried recalling the book but nothing came to mind. We decided that we would ignore it and enjoy the rest of the movie.

The Box
So now I want to get a couple of things straight. The box in the movie is supposed to have some sort of message. Jeanine needs to open the box, but only a divergent can do it. She searches around for someone who is 100% divergent, and that someone is Tris. What bothered me about that was there is no such thing. Tris only has the characteristics of three factions, not them all; there is no way it would have been possible for Tris to even open up the box. Also, in the book, Jeanine already knows about the message, and the whole box concept is non-existent. Jeanine doesn't want anybody to find the message, and focuses on taking over every faction. She's afraid of what is beyond the walls and wants to make sure that others are afraid of it too.

Missing People
Not only were scenes added and missing, but people were missing as well. After being completely out of Divergent, Uriah is finally introduced in the movies. In the first book, he becomes Tris' friend and is a divergent as well. His relationship with Marlene, another character that is barely introduced, is significant as well. She ends up killing herself under simulation, and Tris is stuck with the guilt of not helping her, adding to her multiple reasons to turn herself into Erudite. Zeke, Uriah's brother is also never introduced. Four's father Marcus who plays a significant role in Allegiant is barely in the movie, Lynn and her brother Hector aren't introduced properly, and one of the new leaders named Harrison isn't introduced at all.
Lastly, Jeanine isn't shot at the end. Evelyn is shown with a gun pointed to Jeanines's head, but in the books, Evelyn stabs Jeanine with a knife to avenge her brother. At the same time in the movie, everybody is walking towards the walls, about to leave. But in the book, Evelyn is trying to prevent them from leaving. I don't understand how Allegiant is going to be portrayed as a movie, but in all honestly, I'm prepared to be disappointed...again.
